Awaken the sleeping Lion

I know, I know. I havent written anything substantial in a while.

It has been nice having some time off. I've been spending some time with friends and with my wonderful husband. There has been lots of grilling on the roofdeck alone and with friends, great days spent outdoors in the sun, and some good time just laying around. Dave and I went down to Providence, Rhode Island this past Saturday just to have a little change of pace. We walked around Thayer Street and browsed through books and other delights. We found this cute store called "oop" that had the greatest furniture and arty pieces by a company called Sticks .. I fell in love with some of that stuff. We visited with a few friends there and then had dinner at a place called Kebob and Curry on Thayer Street. It was good Indian food... I'm such a critic and there would things I would change about their service and offerings, but my dish was great and the Raita was fresh and fantastic. After dinner we spent some time with some other friends in the Providence area and then went home. It was a beautiful day to spend it outside and we'd definately do it again. We're hoping to get some canoeing on the Charles time in our schedules in the next few weeks.

The job hunting is slow, there is a lot of waiting around. I had another decent interview last week and I should hear something from them later this week. I still have a prospect with Company "R" who is trying to put together what they want their marketing department to look like, but they have let me know that they are still interested in me as soon as they figure that out. Still no offer, and nothing is final till an offer is presented and accepted. I'm still pushing along and I find stuff every day to apply to. One of these places will hire the best employee, ME!!

I promise, I'll let you all know when I get a job.

oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATRINA

Me, You and Everybody

Jobs, DNC and everything else.

Yesterday was a very interesting day job wise. All in one day.. four possibilities came calling on me. We'll see where they lead, but four phone calls in one day is alot of action.. you know this if you've ever looked for a job. I'm not going to go on about the possibilities yet, but I was happy to have the attention. Still not stopping..

This whole city has been getting ready for the DNC. Trash cans and mailboxes have been removed. Flowers put in their places. Train stations closed down, transportation is confusing and crazy and we're all being searched. Alot of people we know are taking the week off from work because they either cant get there because of all the highway closings/train closings or they just dont want to be in the middle of the craziness. Dave and I are hunkering down and braving it here in Boston. Luckily we're in the south part of the city and most of the insanity is in the northern part.

We've been warned about the terrorism possibilities over and over. My PTSD doesnt need it, I'm jumpy enough as it is when I hear a loud noise or a low flying plane. I can hear many helicopters outside my window and we're still a few days away from the beginning of hell week.

Dave will be at work all next week.. all I can do is hope that this way too obvious target is too obvious for those who wish us harm. I'll probably be at home worrying, but that is par for the course. Paul might have to rescue me since he'll be taking the week off and will be next door.

Not sure what our plans are this weekend.. I do know we are going to explore a little bit of Lynn, MA on sunday to see what it is like. Tonights dinner will be a giant scrumptious salad. We're loving those salads on the hot nights.

Hey.. I've got a new stapler and I'm not afraid to use it.

Democrats and dinner

We are in the throngs of the DNC. It has actually been quite nice. The traffic is light, everything is clean. There is an occasional helicopter or fighter jet that flies overhead... but nothing too bad. There are tons of celebrities in town.. so half the fun is going out to see who you can see.. I might be doing some of that tomorrow. I better remember to bring my camera. Still no Jessamyn sightings though.

We went and explored part of the North Shore.. we started in Lynn.. but I really loved Swampscott... and especially Marblehead. Marblehead was like this quaint old New England seaside town. the "old town" portion really felt like we were back in the 1700's. I liked it. Depending on where I'll be working, we might take a look up there at places to live.

Speaking of working.. it's been busy over here. The phone has been ringing, I've had a few interviews, and three more are scheduled. None of them are perfect.. but there is at least one, maybe two interviews I've been on that I wouldnt mind working for them. Everyone is taking their time, but I'm confident there will be at least one offer soon. I wish I had a contact at Harvard.. there is a great position over there. I'm still on the search, because nothing is over until an offer is accepted.

Tonight will be a home cooked dinner and a benefit show for Kerry/Edwards. Last night our friend Dave came over with some Lobsters and some corn.. it was truely a feast fit for kings and queens.

Tomorrow... more resumes, more interviews.
