A Modest Proposal

I stumbled across a reference to this on William Gibson's blog...

"Christian Exodus is an association of Christians who no longer wish to live under the unjust usurpation of powers by the federal government, and therefore resolves to formally disassociate itself from this tyrannical authority, and return to the model of governance of a constitutional republic. We seek a republican government constrained by constitutionally delegated powers. If this cannot be achieved within the United States, then we believe a peaceful withdrawal from the union to be the last available remedy."

Basically, they ask that all like-minded people move to South Carolina! They figure that if they can convince 12,000 ultra-Right wing Conservative fundamentalists to move to a particular part of South Carolina, they can gain control of the state government. From there they will either force change on a national level or secede from the friggin' Union. They consider our current conservative Republican administration way too LIBERAL. Wow... I wonder how the current citizens of South Carolina feel about all this. I mean, I know it's the bible belt, but c'mon...

Maybe we could offer them a nice island somewhere... let them have their own little theocracy in the middle of the ocean. I think that would be neat. Maybe this one is available.
