Breaking Radio Silence

Sorry for the long delay in updating. Things have been hectic in the bookmines. Nonstop crazy. I've been driving my small army of temps until their mouths begin to foam, teeth nashing and eyes wild. "We're doing it for the kids!", I tell them. They don't feel the love.

The best news that I have to report is pretty darn good! Liz got a swank new job! It sounds like it's going to be something really interesting. Something that will make use of her creativity, her intelligence, and her entertainment industry experience. If you want to know more, you'll have to ask her (or me privately). She starts September 1st, so our days as a single-income family are almost over. Woot!

Back to the bookmines with me... I'll try to update more often.

More Good News

Step Two on Dave and Liz's Road to Better Living: we put down a deposit yesterday on a beautiful new apartment in Salem, MA. Since we'll be staying in New England for awhile, we've decided to lower our cost of living by moving out of the Big City. Much as I love it, Boston is a ridiculous city to live in. Rents are high and car insurance is insane. It's impossible to stay in New England and avoid that stuff completely, but we can at least lesson the blow.

This new apartment is really beautiful. 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bath, huge kitchen with new appliances, it's a gut rehab of an early 1800's Captain's House, beautifully restored. 2nd and 3rd floor. Very nice landlords and a quiet elderly neighbor in the apartment downstairs. Location is great... the historical district, walking distance to the center of Salem, biking distance to the Commuter Rail, about 4 blocks from the ocean. Shops, pubs, and coffee nearby. We're really excited. Just waiting for our applications to clear...
